Port Canaveral is a non-operating port in that Port tenants and sub-tenants provide most direct port operation services. For employment in these operational services (i.e. stevedore, pilot, porter, crane operator, etc.), please contact the companies in our Tenant Directory. GENERAL MAINTENANCE WORKER – LEVEL IV - HVAC

Salary: $12.17/hour - $16.17/hour with HVAC Journeyman's License

Minimum Requirements: High School diploma or GED and valid Florida Driver's License, five years experience in maintenance and commercial air conditioning equipment repair. HVAC journeyman's license preferred.

Duties: Responsible for the general maintenance of all port property. Assignments to work requiring proficiency in commercial HVAC report. This position reports directly to the General Maintenance Supervisor.


Contract Administrator – Part-Time

Qualifications: Juris Doctor Degree (Bar Membership). Must be either admitted to practice law in the state of Florida or be admitted in another state with the willingness and ability to become admitted in the state of Florida as soon as practical, accompanied by 3-5 years of relevant experience. Experience in formation, negotiations and drafting of Contracts, Leases. Polices and Procedures. Valid Florida Driver’s License.

Responsibilities: Responsible for preparing, reviewing and negotiating terms and conditions of Port contracts, agreements and leases; reviewing and drafting polices and procedures; administrating contracts. Draft, review and/or negotiate contracts involving Port services. Contract administration and formation which includes preparation, drafting, editing and revision of letter agreements, and related documentation. Review proposals, quotations to ensure conformity with Port policies. Assist Risk Manager with assessment of contractual and business risk. Serve as a resource internally on all legal matters. Assist staff in the review and negotiation of contracts under the established policies and procedures.


POLICE CHIEF

Salary: $50,000 TO $75,000

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice, police science, public administration, public safety or a related field. Education supplemented by other training in police services and administration. Five years of progressively responsible experience in a variety of police functions, including major command responsibility, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.

The successful candidate will possess all or some of the following qualifications
• Ability to create and motivate a team.
• Strong Public Relations skills
• Past experience in creating a Police Department
• Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt

Licenses and Certifications:

Possession of a valid Florida Operator’s License without restrictions other than corrective lenses. Must reside within a one hour drive of the Port. Must be a Florida Certified Police Officer.

Responsibilities: Under policy and administrative direction of the Canaveral Port Authority and the Chief Executive Officer, the Police Chief is responsible for planning, organizing and supervising the day to day direction and oversight of the maritime security operations on the Port under F.S. 943, F.S. 311 and 33 CFR part 105. Provide professional assistance to senior management in various areas of professional expertise; foster cooperative working relationships with and among the various federal, state and local, intergovernmental, and regulatory agencies; communicate verbally and in writing with various public and private groups, inter and intra-departmental personnel, and the public on policy, procedure and regulatory issues; and perform related work as required.

The Police Chief oversees and directs the day to day activities of all waterside and landside public safety activities of the Port Authority. Responsibilities include strategic planning for use of resources, coordinating the activities of the department with those of other local agencies and ensuring that services provided and development plans are of the highest quality. The Police Chief is accountable for accomplishing departmental planning and operational goals and objectives and for furthering Port Authority goals and objectives within general policy guidelines. Assignments allow for a high degree of administration discretion in their execution.
