U.S. Government Agencies at Port Canaveral
The presence of key government agencies on-site at Port Canaveral eases the process of navigating the regulations and procedures necessary for international trade.
Bureau of Customs and Border Protection
The role of the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is to:
Enforce the import and export laws and regulations of the U.S. federal government.
Conduct immigration policy and programs.
Prevent unlawful movement of people, illegal drugs and other contraband toward or across the borders of the United States (including keeping terrorists and their weapons from entering the United States).
Provide regulatory controls over merchandise moving to and from a foreign trade zone.

U.S. Department of Agriculture
The United States Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Plant Protection and Quarantine (USDA, APHIS, PPQ) office at Port Canaveral has three primary functions:
Export certification of citrus bound for Japan and Europe.
Inspection of passenger, cargo and military ships, and aircraft arriving from overseas.
Identification of the presence of pests such as fruit flies, gypsy moths and the Africanized red honey bee.
The department inspects all fruits, plants, animals and meats arriving from a foreign destination (including detailed inspections of imported bananas, plantains and yams); garbage arriving on ships and aircraft; and fruit snacks of passengers who disembark on sightseeing ventures. It enforces all Congressional quarantines against foreign pests. For more information, visit the Department of Agriculture website at www.usda.gov.
