Intermodal Connections— How to Move Your Product Smoothly From Here to Anywhere in the Universe

Port Canaveral enjoys a central and accessible location, connected to key markets by straightforward routes and efficient modes of transport.

By Land

A modern highway network provides uncongested trucking routes between Port Canaveral and the Southeast. State Road 528, an expressway just outside the port, provides a direct route west, while Interstate 95, located 13 miles west of the port, offers a direct north/south route. These highways intersect routes such as U.S. Highway 1, the Florida Turnpike and Interstate 4 to reach into all corners of Florida.

Several firms located at Port Canaveral offer trucking service, including
Ambassador Services, Inc. 321-784-4646
Commercial Carrier Corporation 321-783-8404
Mid-Florida Transport 800-333-1229
Florida East Coast Railway (321-636-2131), which runs from Jacksonville to Miami, provides near-dock rail service four times daily from its railhead, only 15 minutes from the port’s docks. FEC railway moves approximately 190,000 carloads of commodities annually, with an excellent on-time record.

By Air

Port Canaveral is exceptionally well served by air transportation. Three international airports and one regional airport, all with freight handling facilities and air cargo service, are located within an hour’s drive. For more information, click here.

Domestic Service
We are currently working to identify infrastructure investment needs, partnerships and business opportunities in short-sea shipping, the modern version of an ancient form of transport which uses coastal routes and inland waterways to move domestic cargo. The relief of road and rail congestion and the significant fuel economies to shippers that could result from this transport system convince us that it is worth pursuing. If you are interested in becoming a part of this initiative, please contact us.

By Space

Now expanding beyond NASA and the Air Force, our nation’s space launch program is evolving from military research and exploration into an important commercial transportation industry, routinely delivering domestic and international satellites into earth orbit and beyond. The Port plays an important role as a receiving point for spacecraft hardware and cargo destined for space. As commercial companies enter this industry, we expect to continue and expand this role.
